US to fund $20m remake of Sesame Street for Pakistan!!!

The United States is funding a Pakistani remake of the popular TV children's show Sesame Street.
In a new effort to win hearts and minds in Pakistan, USAID - the development arm of the US government - is donating $20m (£12m) to the country to create a local Urdu version of the show.
The project aims to boost education in Pakistan, where many children have no access to regular schooling.
The show is to be filmed in Lahore and aired later in the year.
"The programme is part of a series of ventures that is aimed at developing the educational infrastructure in the country," Virginia Morgan, a spokesperson for USAID, told the BBC.
"Education is one of the vital sectors that need help in Pakistan."
The show will be set in a village in Pakistan - rather than the streets of New York - with roadside tea shop and residents sitting on their verandas.
The remake will star a puppet called Rani, the six-year-old daughter of a peasant farmer, with pigtails and a school uniform, according to Britain's Guardian newspaper.
Targeting five to nine year olds, the series will run on Pakistan national TV and regional language channels.
Sesame Street is not entirely alien to Pakistani audiences - the original version ran on local TV during the 1990s.
But it could only be understood across the limited, Westernised section of Pakistani society.
The Rafi peer theatre group, which is producing the local version in collaboration with Sesame Workshop, hopes to change that.
In an interview with a local edition of Newsweek, Imraan Peerzada‚ a writer for the new series‚ said the protagonist was a brave and daring girl.
"She will represent what little girls have to go through in this gender-biased society," he said.
He said her journey would inevitably touch on Pakistan's ongoing fight with militancy, but would not directly refer to religion.
"We don't want to label children‚" he said. "The basic learning tools of literacy‚ numeracy‚ hygiene‚ and healthy eating have to be in place first."

I think this is a brilliant idea-finally shifting focus of the children and education them....I hope this medium works though....
anyway..thought I'd share...
ciao! and keepwell.

Give me William and Middleton!

So yes everybody knows about the Royal couple....but what I just saw on BBC's news website(yes at 5 in the morning!) is that The Royal Canadian Mint has unveiled collectors' coins to mark the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
A 20 Canadian dollar ($20.86; £12.78) silver coin has a sapphire-coloured crystal inlay, meant to symbolise the ring the Prince gave Ms Middleton. (The photograph on the right)
And a 25-cent coin features a colour portrait of the couple.(The photo on the left)
Mint chief executive Ian Bennett called the wedding later this month "a priceless opportunity to celebrate Canada's pride in royal tradition".
The coins "will give Canadians, royal watchers and collectors everywhere exceptional keepsakes by which to remember this historic event", he said in a statement.
The coins will be sold at Mint shops in Ottawa, Winnipeg and Vancouver, online, and elsewhere.
The couple are to marry on 29 April and plan to travel to Canada two months later, on their first official overseas trip as a married couple.
They will visit Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and the capital, Ottawa.

The best part is that I am going to be in London the day Prince William and Kate Middleton tie the knot....I can't wait to see London all "dressed up" for the occassion....it's going to be so pretty!!! And if possible I may buy one of these coins as a souvenir!!! A good memory that will be to have.....

Anyway...nice to start the day with such a happy news!!!
And guess what, another great news....there is a serial killer on the roam in the streets of New York now-a-days...just thought I'd mention it as an addition to my previous blog! This is so going to help me sleep at night now..especially when I have my exams coming up in 2 days...
Bugger.

my nightmare...

Everybody has nightmares right...?? Not always...but sometimes....
I have one that has been haunting me since last 3 years...yeah I know...that long.....
Even when I am dreaming about a nice thing like lets say cupcakes or vineyards or Matt Damon...this image that I have in my mind about my nightmare, just comes in the nice dream for like a second and then goes away...but it always comes....and sometimes the entire dream is about the image-which makes it into a nightmare.....
I am talking about the Zodiac Serial Killer. He operated in North California,USA, in the late 1960's and early 1970's.
A movie was made on a book written about him. The movie's name is Zodiac. And since the time I have seen this film, I can't stop thinking of what would happen if I someday run into the ZODIAC!!!!
It scares the shit out of me! As amazingly stupid as I am, I went online and searched as much as I could about this man after seeing the film.....It didn't  scare me then, it's just, later, that he just got fixed in my mind....and started haunting me!
I usually dream about 2 of his murders that I call my "favourites" ....
1.Modesto attack
On the night of March 22, 1970, Kathleen Johns was driving from San Bernardino to Petaluma to visit her mother. She was seven months pregnant and had her 10-month-old daughter beside her. While heading west on Highway 132 near Modesto, a car behind her began honking and flashing its lights. She pulled off the road and stopped. The man in the car parked behind her and stated that her right rear tire was wobbling, and offered to tighten the lugs. After finishing his work, the man drove off; yet when Johns pulled forward to reenter the highway the wheel almost immediately came off of the car. The man returned, offering to drive her to the nearest gas station for help. She and her daughter climbed into his car. During the ride the car passed several service stations but the man did not stop. For about 90 minutes he drove back and forth around the backroads near Tracy. When Johns asked why he was not stopping, he would change the subject. When the driver finally stopped at an intersection, the man told Johns that he was going to kill her and then throw the baby out after her.Johns jumped out with her daughter and hid in a field. The driver then closed the car door and drove off. Johns hitched a ride to the police station in Patterson.

When you see this scene in the movie, you will literally be shaking inside your blanket....that's how I was....
2.Lake Herman Road attackThe first murders widely attributed to the Zodiac Killer were the shootings of high school students Betty Lou Jensen and David Faraday on December 20, 1968, on Lake Herman Road, just inside Benecia city limits.
The couple was on their first date and planned to attend a Christmas concert at Hogan High about three blocks from Jensen's home. The couple, instead, visited a friend before stopping at a local restaurant, and then driving out on Lake Herman Road. At about 10:15 p.m., Faraday parked his mother's Rambler in a gravel turnout, which was a well-known lover's lane.
Shortly after 11:00 p.m., their bodies were found by Stella Borges, who lived nearby. The Solano County Sheriff's Department investigated the crime but no leads developed.
Utilizing available forensic data, Robert Graysmith postulated that another car pulled into the turnout, just prior to 11:00 and parked beside the couple. The killer apparently exited the second car and walked toward the Rambler, possibly ordering the couple out of the Rambler. Jensen appeared to have exited the car first, yet when Faraday was halfway out, the killer apparently shot Faraday in the head. Fleeing from the killer, Jensen was gunned down twenty-eight feet from the car with five shots through her back. The killer then drove off.
These 2 incidents haunt me a lot.....
The image that I was earlier talking about is the image of the zodiac that I saw on the internet....I at times imagine myself as the above mentioned victims....and it's those scenes that I play in my mind that scare me...!!!
Deep huh??
anyway...thought I'd mention him 'cause it's been haunting me again since last few days..!..haha...
ciao! and sleepwell!!!
